Instructions

How to Make

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and reposition the oven rack to the upper third for optimal baking.
  • Prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt in a large bowl.
  • Mix the wet ingredients by whisking the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and almond extract in a separate bowl.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined, and fold in the colorful sprinkles.
  • Transfer the batter to your prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.
  • Cool the bread in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, buttermilk, and corn syrup.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and sprinkle with nonpareils.

Notes

Optional: Add a sprinkle of toasted nuts on top for an extra crunch. Use long-stemmed jimmies in the batter and reserve nonpareils for the topping to maintain colors. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
