  • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg Can be swapped with allspice

  • ½ cup All-Purpose Flour Substitute with gluten-free options if desired
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows Optional for a toasted sugary layer

Instructions

How to Make Sweet Potato Casserole Delight

  • Begin by washing, peeling, and cutting the sweet potatoes into even cubes. Boil them in cold water for about 15 minutes until they are fork-tender.
  • Once drained well, return the sweet potatoes to the pot. Add in the milk and melted butter, then mash them together until smooth.
  • Mix in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until the mixture is silky smooth.
  • Gently transfer the sweet potato mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and smooth the top.
  • In a separate bowl, combine chopped pecans, flour, and melted butter, mixing until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the topping over the sweet potato layer and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional pecans and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared a day in advance. Store in the fridge and add the topping before baking.
