For the Pastry and Toppings

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry, thawed Ensure it is completely thawed to work with ease.
  • 1 each Egg, beaten Provides a beautiful golden finish.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Vegetable oil is a great alternative if preferred.

Instructions

How to Make Christmas Sausage Rolls

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the finely diced onion and minced garlic until soft and fragrant, about 4-5 minutes. Let cool.
  • In a bowl, combine the cooled onion and garlic with the sausage meat, dried sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut the pastry into strips about 3 inches wide. Place a line of filling along one edge and roll up tightly.
  • Slice each roll into 2-3 pieces and place them on a lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  • Bake for about 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm.
