- 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup Or cream of chicken, or homemade roux
- ½ cup Milk Any milk or plant-based alternative
- 2 cups Cheddar Cheese Shredded, or substitute with Monterey Jack
- 2 tablespoon Butter Melted, omit for lighter version
- 1 teaspoon Paprika Optional garnish
Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
Cook the ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Drain excess grease, then season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, followed by the beef mixture, and then the remaining potatoes.
Pour over the cream of mushroom soup mixed with milk.
Top with shredded cheese and drizzle melted butter over the top.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Optionally garnish with paprika.
