Meat Pastries with Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

For the pastry

  • 500 g Puff pastry
  • 1 piece Egg For brushing the pastries

For the filling

  • 400 g Ground meat (beef, chicken, or pork) Feel free to mix different types of meat.
  • 1 piece Onion Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley Chopped

For serving

  • Garlic sauce For serving alongside the pastries.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Roll out the puff pastry to about 3 mm thick and cut circles of about 10 cm in diameter.

Cooking the filling

  • In a skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until transparent.
  • Add minced garlic and ground meat, then season with salt and pepper. Cook until the meat is fully browned.

Assembling the pastries

  • Place 1-2 tablespoons of the meat filling in the center of each pastry circle. Fold the pastry over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the sealed pastries on it.
  • Beat the egg and brush it on top of each pastry. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

Making the garlic sauce

  • Mix yogurt with minced garlic, salt, and pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. To reheat, place in the oven for a few minutes. You can freeze unbaked pastries and bake them directly from frozen.
